Book Week

At Cottesmore St. Mary’s we celebrated our love of reading with a week dedicated to books.

The week was based around the theme of Superheroes characters and aimed to introduce the children to the genre of graphic novels and comics.
During the week the pupils had the opportunity to take part in a variety of book-related activities. To link in with our school’s antibullying campaign, a local cartoonist, James Parsons, ran a series of comic workshops to help the children design a new superhero character to fight the bullies.

Also, our local children’s bookshop, Book Nook, very kindly came in to read stories and host a book fair.

As a fabulous finish to the week, the children and staff donned a variety of weird and wonderful costumes and outfits to show their love of books.
