Green Screen

This school year Cottesmore pupils have had the opportunity to be involved in some green screen video work. As you can see below, the first classes to work with Mr. Cutting on this new and exciting project are the children in Reception and Year Four. The focus is to use green screen and digital technology to enhance learning across the curriculum.

Green screening is a fantastic tool for inspiring children to think and work creatively and it is FUN too! Encouraging children to use their imagination, coupled with their knowledge and learning to make their videos.

Year Four  - The Romans

Currently Mr. Cutting has carried out the videoing and digital editing. However, in the coming months Mr. Cutting will encourage the older children to learn these skills and help in the creative process.

How does Green Screen and Animation meet the Computing requirements of the National Curriculum?

KS1 - use technology purposefully to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content.

KS2 - use sequence, selection, and repetition in programs; work with variables and various forms of input and output.

KS2 - select, use and combine a variety of software (including internet services) on a range of digital devices to design and create a range of programs, systems and content that accomplish given goals, including collecting, analysing, evaluating and presenting data and information.

In the coming weeks Mr. Cutting would like to integrate Green Screen Project Based Learning for all year groups.

The framework for this would be:

Give children an open brief.

Allow them to explore areas of the curriculum which interest them.

Engages all learning styles.

Encompasses both curriculum and 21st century learning skills.

Research, planning and execution stages.

Enhances literacy skills, language, teamwork and problem solving
